St. Patrick’s Celebration

March 16, 2013 @ 3:00 pm - March 17, 2013 @ 12:00 am

Irish Bred Pub hosting 2-day

 St. Patrick’s Celebration

Located a few feet from the Chambers County border, the Irish Bred Pub on 3rd Ave. in downtown West Point, Georgia will be the site of a two-day St. Patrick’s celebration on Saturday, March 16, and Sunday, March 17, which is St. Patrick’s Day.  In past years, the Pub’s one-day event has drawn large crowds to the site. This year, the celebration is doubled and large crowds are expected both days. Eighth St. will again be closed between 3rd and 4th avenues to accommodate displays, vendors, bands and street dancing.

“In the late afternoon, it’s a family affair. About 5 each afternoon, we’ll have the Irish Dancers and bagpipers. Kids really enjoy this, so we encourage the whole family to come,” said Pub owner Ruthanne Williams.  “We’ll also have a special St. Pat’s menu, naturally featuring corned beef and cabbage, along with a few other Pub items.” The priest from St. John’s Episcopal Church will be there at the same time to give a special blessing to the event and for all who are attending.

There will be live bands – Hired Guns on Saturday, Barstool Prophets on Sunday – and Dee Jays “Jay Dee” outside and “Chad the Dork” in the Pub’s upstairs area. And there will be dancing in the street on 8th St. both evenings.  St. Patrick festivities begin each day around 3 p.m. There’s a $5 cover charge for the street event or upstairs at the Pub, no cover charge for the restaurant.
