The Restoration Ride is a Non Competitive Cycling event, with two routes, one 33 and one 68 miles, through the scenic countryside of Talladega, Shelby and St Clair countys. Pre registration can be completed at https://www.usacycling.org/register/2016-3. A hot home style breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, potatos, biscuits will be served for registered riders from 6 am til 7:15am and the cyclist will roll off at 8am. After the ride the cyclist will return to smoked pulled pork shoulder, smoked chicken, home made sides and plenty of dessert! All served hot and fresh.
A portion of all entry fees from this event goes to the Kymulga Grist Mill for restoration and ongoing operational cost. This gristmill was damaged by flood waters and has not been in operation in several yrs. Restoration Ride’s goal is to raise enough money to make needed repairs, get the mill operating again so future generations can see how it was done back in the day, and bring attention to the great cycling in Talladega county!
